about me

MY BIOGRAPHY
I’m Kendell Burton, and I am an award-winning creative professional who is passionate about using design to craft brand strategies and tell compelling business stories. With over 9 years of experience in graphic design, digital and social media marketing, and brand positioning with leading advertising agencies, I know what it takes to translate business objectives into design concepts that attract the right target audiences and drive operational results. My expertise spans the political, entertainment, sports, and consumer packaged goods sectors where I have had the opportunity to partner with some of the world’s most recognizable brands and platforms, including Universal Studios, HBO, Hasbro, Pepsi, McDonald’s, the NFL and NBA.
Some of my notable achievements to date:
- Developed brand identity and created guidelines for Mike Bloomberg’s “Mike for Black America” outreach campaign for the 2020 presidential election
- Spearheaded promotional graphic and video content design for the film “Alita, Battle Angel” in 2019
- Oversaw concept development and managed internal design team for Season 2 of HBO’s Ballers, earning a Shorty Award Finalist nomination in 2017
MY BEGINNINGS
I fell in love with design initially from the young age of 12. Like most teenagers, I was creating my online life via blogs and instant messengers. Social forums such as Xanga and MySpace molded my love of all things visual. What started with an expression of my love for video game characters and visual effects that fit thematically, slowly evolved into a love of all things design.
Getting compliments on my Final Fantasy and Ragnarok Online themed pages became the norm. However, the picky details of image placement and hover state effects on my blog pages consumed me more than most. I thought all of my friends were spending endless hours making sure that links were properly legible and colors fit their theme. I WAS WRONG!
Teachers took notice and pointed me in the direction of graphic design. To this day, I love graphic and its ability to solve business solutions visually far more than any specific industry or sector.
